LASIK is the most common type of laser eye treatment. The surgeon creates a tiny, protective flap on your cornea, uses a laser to gently reshape the tissue underneath, and then places the flap back down. Healing is very quick, and most people enjoy incredibly clear vision within 24 hours. Suitable for most prescriptions with a rapid, comfortable recovery.
LASEK is a slightly different approach where only the very thin uppermost layer of the eye, called the epithelium, is moved aside. The laser then reshapes the cornea underneath to improve your sight. Best for patients with thinner corneas. No corneal flap is created, offering the same laser precision as LASIK with a slightly longer healing time.
